I noticed while driving on route 2 there was a bridge off the side of the road just in the woods. It looked like an old wooden bridge and there was a small dirt road to pull off to park in front of it. One day I was finally able to stop by and check it out. I had no idea what to expect, but after crossing the bridge I quickly realized it was an old cemetery. Peabody Cemetery in Gilead, Maine. Quickly researching Peabody Cemetery brings up an old house that is near the cemetery that was known as Peabody Tavern that served as a stagecoach and later a railroad stop.
