Sportster Silhouette

I haven’t been updating this site with new blog posts very often this summer, even though I told myself I would get back into consistent photography again. One of the reasons I’ve been neglecting this site is that last year I got my motorcycle endorsement and I bought myself my first motorcycle. I purchased myself a 2020 Harley Davidson Iron 883.

The decision to take a motorcycle safety course and get my motorcycle endorsement came about during the height of the pandemic. Being cooped up inside with nothing to do made me want more adventure and the idea of getting a Harley popped into my head. I didn’t grow up riding dirt bikes or anything, but I did ride a bicycle a lot when I was a kid and I started driving on a manual transmission so taking to learning how to ride wasn’t too difficult. It hasn’t been a full year since I’ve owned my Sportster, but so far I’ve put about 8,000 miles on and think I will likely get to 10,000 by this Fall.

Harley Davidson has a great history of making motorcycles and it was my first choice for a bike. I know that they come with a premium price tag, but you often also get what you pay for and I think that it is often justifiable. The Sportster is the smallest frame in the Harley line and the 883 is one of the smallest vtwin Harley’s that you can get. For the most part I am happy with the little 883 Evo, but I plan on doing some upgrades down the line and possibly building it into a 1275. One of the best parts about Sportsters are the ability to make the bike into whatever you want. I’ve seen people make Sportsters into bobbers, choppers, enduro/off road bikes, and even baggers.

Anyways, I guess I’ll try to do a better job at uploading more onto this site and bringing my camera with me on my adventures. Below is a shot I took of my Sportster in my garage with some lights backlighting it.
